UCLA Marina Aquatic Center


The UCLA Marina Aquatic Center is a waterfront facility used for recreational purposes that is owned and operated by the University of California Los Angeles. The Marina and Aquatic Center, commonly known as the MAC, was opened in 1965. The original purpose of the facility was to provide a place to house equipment and practice for the UCLA collegiate rowing and sailing teams. Since that time the MAC has grown and offers students, staff, and the general community classes on sailing, rowing, kayaking, boating, and even windsurfing.

The MAC runs under the auspices of the UCLA Recreation Department. The location of the marina is ten miles from UCLA's main campus. In addition to classes, the MAC also offers equipment rentals, dock access to Marina Del Rey and Ballona Creek, locker room facilities, walking access to Playa Del Beach, barbeques and fire pits. The address of the Marina Aquatic Center is 1400 Fiji Way, Parking is very scare especially on weekends. The center is accessible via bike and bus.

In addition to the regular classes there are also summer camps for kids in grades K-12. The activities range from indoor/outdoor games, field trips, arts and crafts, swimming, field trips, and water sports. There are ten different programs based on age, area of concentration and skill level.
