Royal Palms State Beach

Royal Palms State Beach is located in San Pedro, which is a district of Los Angeles, California and is approximately 30 minutes drive from Los Angeles International Airport. Royal Palms State Beach is located adjacent to Rancho Palos Verdes, which is a city located on the southwest side of Palos Verdes Peninsula. There is metered public parking at the beach with almost 200 spaces available including 19 handicapped spaces by the beach.

Aside from being a place to relax and soak up the sun or swim in the Pacific Ocean, visitors can also surf and fish here. There is plenty for the kids to do at the beach too with a children's playground at the top of the bluff and lots of tide pools to explore. Visitors may see various sea anemones and other things that live in the wet nooks and crannies of the rocky shoreline once the tide has gone out.

Guided hikes are available along trails beginning the parking lot at the end of La Rotunda Drive off Palos Verdes Drive South. The hikes will help visitors to understand the history, geology, marine ecology and habitat restoration work carried out here. There are plenty of other facilities at the beach including a promenade, restrooms and showers.
