Potrero Hill

Those visiting San Francisco will enjoy a trip to Portrero Hill where they can find dining, shopping and fun in a true Golden Gate City neighborhood. The area is on the east side of the city. It is bordered by the Mission District and the South market Area. The east side of the neighborhood features a number of docks that rise over a landfill. Portreo Hill features a variety of things to do and see. The Anchor Steam Brewery is a popular destination for visitors. The brewery is owned by Fritz Maytag, the heir to the washing machine company and is one of the few remaining breweries to produce California Common Beer or Steam Beer. The public housing projects were once home to O.J. Simpson, football player, actor and infamous murder suspect. The area on the northern side of the hill is where you will find most of the shops and restaurants and the neighborhood is home to the California Culinary Academy. The neighborhood is home to the corporate offices of Digg and the television series Mythbusters. Many people recognize Portrero Hill as the fictional home of the star of the Dirty Harry movies. Famous residents to have lived in the neighborhood include Sarah Lane, Blanche Thebom, Robert Bechtle, Peter Orlovsky and Miguel Migs.
