Palo Alto Research Center (PARC)


The Palo Alto Research Center, known as PARC, is located in the heart of Silicon Valley in Northern California. PARC specializes in brining technology products and services to market. Palo Alto Research Center was founded in 1970 under the name XEROX PARC. PARC became a fully owned subsidiary company of the XEROX Corporation. The PARC team is made up of over 170 computational, social and physical scientists and engineers from around the globe. There is also approximately 100 operational and support staff that specializes in intellectual and capital management.

The staff includes experts in the disciplines of business, anthropology, chemistry, computer science, economics, education, chemical and electrical engineering, law, environmental studies, linguistics, mathematics, materials science, psychology, physics, statistics, and neuroscience. PARC consists of four individual labs where work groups are formed according to the specific project that is being worked on.

Palo Alto Research Center produces approximately $60 million in annual revenue. Their business comes from a wide variety of clients. Clients include Department of Energy, the United States Army, United States Air Force, Samsung, Microsoft, Sun Microsystems, Oracle, and XEROX to name a few. The facility totals 200,000 square feet including a machine shop and prototyping lab.
