Hotel Union Square

The Hotel Union Square offers accommodations with modern style. It is located in an historic art deco location and guestrooms feature mosaic murals, brick walls, staircases, moldings, custom furnishings and a warm color palate. There are platform beds with tufted headboards, 600-thread count sheets, dark wood desks, flat screen televisions, velvet chaise lounges, expansive mirrors and drop panel ceilings. Guests can choose from one of 29 executive guest rooms, ten sleep and soak rooms, three junior suites, two penthouse suites with their own private sundeck, the kids suits or the Dashiell Hammet Suite. The hotel recently received a makeover, designed by Riley Johndonnel. His goal was to keep the historic qualities, while adding comfort and upgrading as much as possible. The hotel's history includes renting the room used by author Dashiell Hammett, writer of the novel The Maltese Falcon. The night before his wedding in 1921, he booked the suite that is available today for his soon-to-be wife, Josephine Dolan. The hotel is located near some of San Franciso's best theaters including the Best of Broadway, the Orpheum Theatre and ACT at Zeum. Nearby restaurants include Farallon, Fifth Floor, TWO and Colibri Mexican Bistro. Guests can also enjoy shopping, art galleries and sporting events in the area.
