Getty House

Getty House is located at South Irving Boulevard in Los Angeles, California and is approximately 20 miles from Los Angeles International Airport. The house is the official residence of the serving Mayor of Los Angles and was donated to the city by the oil tycoon J. Paul Getty. The house was built in 1920 for $83,000 but was only bought by the Getty Oil Company in 1959 and donated to the city in 1975.

The house is built in an English Tudor style and frequently hosts not just important dignitaries from home and abroad, but also school children and residents of Los Angeles. Part of the education program offered to school children includes a history of the house and its previous residents. Children can also learn more about the dignitaries that have visited and also some of the history of Los Angeles with photographs to enhance the lectures.

The house hosts various events throughout the year including fundraising gatherings, receptions and exhibitions. There are eateries nearby including Tahoe Galbi, Mr Pizza Factory and Furusato all within half a mile of the house. Visitors in need of pampering can visit the Olympic Spa and Beverly Hot Springs Spa, which are both within short walking distance of the house.
