GIRLteams Adventure Training

GIRLteams Adventure Training is based at Santa Monica Boulevard in Santa Monica, California. This is a three day camp for women only that teaches them teamwork and a variety of outdoor skills. These camps were started in 1998 and were founded by three men, who are experienced in outdoor activities such as canoeing and kayaking.

The camps are run by trained instructors with expertise in outdoor activities and camping, and are available to women from all walks of life. The participants don't necessarily require any previous athletic prowess but just need a sense of adventure and desire to learn new skills. The course begins at West Los Angeles' Rockreation climbing gym, where there is 9,000 square feet of sculpted climbing terrain as well as weight machines and cardiovascular equipment.

By day two the ladies are taken to Isabella Lake in Kern County, where participants learn how to paddle in a kayak across the reservoir. They also spend time at the Keyesville mountain bike trail for some cycling as well learning map and compass reading skills. These skills come in to play on the final day as the participants hike, paddle and mountain bike along a course they have plotted themselves.
