Claremont Museum of Art

The Claremont Museum of Art has recently undergone many changes. The operations were terminated in December 2009, with the permanent collection moved to storage. However, it is not the end of the museum. Instead a group of volunteers has picked up the torch hoping to create the museum again for visitors to Claremont, California. The volunteers are currently calling it the "museum without walls" in order to promote the museum's exhibits and its need for a new development.

Through events for current members and volunteers, the new board is hoping to raise enough to open a new exhibit space in the next year. They do have a bit of an endowment, but they are a long way from gaining enough for a new building. They are holding such things as an artful evening in 2010 at the McIntosh Family Home for members and potential members. They already head an Artful Affair at Padua Hills Theater to show pictures and get local interest.

The collection if it is ever displayed again will offer history of Claremont's San Gabriel Valley in which a number of Native American pieces were found, as well as many local artists' contributions.
