Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve

In an effort to restore, educate, and advocate for the wetlands and the environment, the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve welcomes visitors and students to its lands on the regular basis. They run public outreach, leadership, and education programs open to all ages. The conservancy has formed a partnership with the Department of Fish and Game in an effort to clean up and maintain the waterways in the area. They are the only wetlands interpretive center in this region of California and feature an education director and library right on the grounds. High schools in the Huntington Beach area benefit from the High School Wetlands Research Program run by the conservancy which offers students a chance to collect data on the water and use it toward long-term conservation efforts. The conservancy also works with a variety of other community organizations in an attempt to protect and conserve the wetlands. Classes are offered for Girl and Boy Scout troops in the area and the Volunteer Scientists Program allows kids a chance to perform water quality tests on the grounds. The numerous programs run by the conservancy serve to support the ecological system of Bolsa Chica and to educate the public and students in the area about the importance of nature conservancy.
