I had a recent negative experience at the McDonald’s store at:
3100 Poplar Level Rd, Louisville, KY 40217
I have a number of security cams in my vehicle which captured the whole interaction. You may be impressed how clear & comprehensive the video is, capturing everything that was said, and who said it.
The bitly link to the video is:

In summary,
- I paid for my order but was given an unreadable receipt
- I immediately asked if I could get another receipt and was told ‘no’
- I asked four employees for a valid receipt, including the manager
- The manager would not provide me with a valid, readable receipt
- The manager would not void the sale when I asked her to
- Amazingly, the manager would not even provide me with a free item as a way to ‘satisfy the customer’
- not even a coupon, nor a free drink or small fries
- When I worked in restaurants, we would often provide a free dessert to customers who had a bad experience
- A few months ago, I was at a Steak & Shake and the manager gave me free fries simply because my order took a few minutes longer to fill. I didn’t say anything and didn’t mind the wait in the least. He just took it upon himself to do that.
- When I asked for her name, the manager took down my license plate #
- Note that none of the four employees apologized or said “Sorry , but …”
Note that all the mistakes were made by the employees. I kept asking for a valid receipt, they gave me the food without a valid receipt, and then I was told they could not void the sale because they gave me the food.
As I mention in the video, if I walked in the dining room instead of using the drive thru, things would have been much different. I would be standing at the front counter, asking for a valid receipt, not walking away with the food unless I had the receipt, and they would have voided the transaction.
Furthermore, if I took the food to a table and found out the order was wrong, they would have given me another burger.
I find it hard to believe that they could not print off a readable receipt. How many printers does a McDonald’s store have?
To be clear - I do not want anything from McDonald’s, no coupons or free meals or the like. I already contacted Chase Bank and they cancelled the charge.
After you view the video, ask yourself – what was she thinking?
What was she trying to prove or accomplish?
I wonder if each of the four employees followed McDonald’s policy.
Perhaps it is time for a basic audit of this store. I spoke to four employees - maybe there are other problems in the store.
Note that since the survey code was unreadable on the receipt I could not fill out the survey. I suppose this is one way to prevent your customers from giving negative feedback – give them all unreadable receipts.
