Kingsley Plantation

Kingsley Plantation was also called Zephaniah Kingsley Plantation Home and Buildings. It is the site of Zephaniah Kingsley's home for 25 years. The house is located in Jacksonville, Florida close to the northern section of Fort George Island. The plantation home is part of Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve. The US National Park Service runs the estate and park land.

The plantation originally had 1000 acres, but most of it was turned into forest. The structures and grounds are on 60 acres. The land was once a home for Pre Columbian Timucua tribes. There was also a Spanish Mission called San Juan Del Puerto on the land that is part of the preserve. In 1765, the plantation was started. It passed through several hands including British owners. Kingsley held the longest term of ownership with his polygamous family and household.

Much of the building has architectural products from the 1790s, though there were changes made in the 1800s. Twenty-five of the slave cabins still remain, though some are just ruins now. The foundations of the house, kitchen, and barn are also still in existence. As for the main house it is still in relatively good condition for touring.
