Ventura County Maritime Museum


The Ventura County Maritime Museum is located at 2731 South Victoria Avenue in Oxnard, California. It is a cultural museum and scenic haven that sits among the Channel Islands Harbor and boasts world class maritime art and intricate ship models. The museum has an ever-changing calendar of museum exhibitions. There is always something new to see and visitors enjoy returning season after season for the new exhibits. The museum is located along the Fisherman's Wharf which sits at the corner of Channel Islands Boulevard and Victoria Avenue in the heart of the city.

The museum opened its doors in 1991 as an independent, not-for-profit public benefit corporation chartered under the laws of the State of California. The museum receives financial support from members, friends, charitable foundations and businesses. The museum welcomes about 25,000 visitors annually from all over the USA, as well as from more than 30 foreign countries. The Elementary Education Program, staffed entirely by volunteers, conducts in-house tours for thousands of elementary school students each year. The museum offers an At Sea Education program that supports three day youth sailing expeditions onboard working tall ships. This is an exciting adventure for the students who partake in the program.
