Ohlone Trail

The Ohlone Trail near Livermore, California is 5.5 mile roundtrip hiking trail that provides out and back access along a moderate terrain. The elevation gain of the trail is approximately 2,200 feet with grass ridges, nice views, and lots of blooming seasonal flowers. The trail passes through the Ohlone Wilderness and three wilderness parks.

Throughout the wilderness area, lots of wildlife may be seen. Hikers pack their camera to take amazing shots of wildlife and the views of the bay. It is not uncommon to see eagles, mountain lions, rattlesnakes, hawks, vultures, and a wide variety of rabbits and field mice. Guide books can be purchased at the park kiosk and are recommended to not miss the Falls and mountain peaks of Mount Diablo and that of Mount Rose.

The best seasons to take on the trail are in the Fall and Spring. Hikers, bikers, and horses are all welcome along the trail and can be seen throughout the year. It is recommended that hikers pack plenty of water to accommodate hydration needs. Rattlesnakes are also common to see throughout the hike. Hiking boots are advised as well as a first aid kit. The hike is a popular getaway for many California residents.
