Ocean View Hotel - Santa Monica, California - Eco-Friendly Hotel by the Beach

Conveniently located on the bluff above Santa Monica Beach and the Pacific, the newly renovated, four-story Ocean View Hotel is certainly deserving of its name. Even from the lobby, the fiery California sunsets can be seen, and from the Ocean View balconies it is possible to watch couples riding the huge Ferris wheel at Santa Monica Pier.

Formerly a member of the Best Western group, the Ocean View Hotel has retained its AAA-3 Diamond rating and has recently been honored as a truly eco-friendly hotel by earning its Green Business Certification. Its practices include efficiencies in energy and water usage, environmentally-conscious purchasing policies, and the use of less-toxic cleaning products. Fluorescent lighting is employed facility-wide, 100% post-consumer content paper towels are supplied in public restrooms, and alternative transportation is promoted.

The Ocean View Hotel's 66 guestrooms feature courtyard, ocean, or Santa Monica pier views. The dycor is beach-themed, and sitting and sleeping areas are separate. Standard amenities include writing desks, in-room safes, mini fridges, coffeemakers, and hair dryers. Daily newspapers are provided, as is high-speed Internet access and a direct-dial phone with free long distance access, data ports and voice mail. In-room televisions come with premium cable channels.

The Standard Courtyard Rooms on floors two through four have one king bed or two doubles and cover 350 square feet. Some have their own balconies. The Ocean View Rooms are similar in layout, but face the Pacific. All units are non-smoking; pets are not allowed. Infant cribs and rollaway beds can be provided upon request.

Located on the premises is a business center, which can provide fax and copying services. Other services available include dry cleaning and laundry facilities, a car rental desk and tour assistance, a 24-hour front desk, ATM/banking and currency exchange, medical assistance through "Doctor on Call,'' and safe deposit boxes.

Although there is no restaurant on the premises, all guests are invited to partake of the Ocean View Hotel's daily continental breakfast using biodegradable plates and cups. It is served from 7am to 10am daily. For lunch or dinner, the fine dining areas of downtown Santa Monica are just minutes away.

The hotel has also made arrangements for guests to use a nearby fitness center at a special discount rate. Meeting rooms can be made available for small groups, and wedding services can also be arranged.

From Los Angeles International Airport, take the I-405 Freeway North to the I-10 Santa Monica Freeway West and exit at Fourth Street. Go right on Fourth Street and then left on Broadway Avenue to Ocean Avenue. Go right on Ocean Avenue and the hotel is on the right. Covered self parking costs $15 per night; valet parking is also available.
