Lake Natoma

Lake Natoma is a place for visitors and residents of California to enjoy a local lake and beach. Lake Natoma is near Folsom, California between Nimbus and Folsom Dam. It is a recreational lake where kayaking, swimming and rowing are permitted. It is not a place for motorboats. Also in the area is the Sacramento State Aquatic Center that has West Coast College Rowing Championships.

Lake Natoma sets on Negro Bar, a historical area of Folsom known as the African American gold mining camp during the gold rush days. It is possible to learn a bit about the history of the camp while visiting the lake, since there is a little plaque. Mostly though, visitors to Lake Natoma go there to relax and enjoy warm summer days.

In winter the lake can be cold, though it will not usually freeze. It is just too cold for most to swim in it. However, in summer you should expect quite a few cars and bodies to be in and around the lake shore. Diving is possible, though there is little to see other than some lake fish. Fishing is permitted at the lake, though swimmers are cautioned to stay away from areas where there are a concentrated amount of fishermen.
