California Exposition & State Fair


The California Exposition and State Fair ground hosts a variety of events each year. The site features 350-acres of land, its own caterer, and 18 different venues. The expo grounds were opened in 1968 and today the grounds can host up to 50,000 people for events. Past events have included the Governor's Inaugural Balls, the International Sportsman's Expositions, Cirque du Soleil, and the Sacramento Jazz Jubilee. The exposition grounds are convenient and located near lodging and dining facilities in the state capital city. The exposition grounds best known event is the annual California State Fair. During fair season, the grounds open at noon each weekday and provide families with food, entertainment, livestock, and fun. Horse races are also run on the fairgrounds track. Fair events include jungle and reptile experiences, the Brewfest beer tasting, Camp Smokey, the California Forest Center, a variety of equine events in addition to the races, a midway, fireworkds displays, a 9/11 memorial, and enough food too feed a circus. The mission statement of the exposition grounds is to " is to create State Fair experience reflecting California including its industries, agriculture, diversity of its people, traditions and trends shaping its future, supported by year-round events."
