Cabrillo Bike Path

One of the most scenic biking routes in Southern California is the Cabrillo Bike Path. Here you will find a tree-lined, paved walkway surrounded by flowers and right next to the lapping waves. The path runs from Leadbetter Beach to Andree Clark Bird Refuge, which is a three mile trip. The Bird Refuge is often called The Lagoon and it is located near Montecito. Surries can be rented at Lower State Street for visitors to enjoy a laid-back, relaxing beachside ride. There are a variety of seaside resorts located in this area, making a ride on the Cabrillo Path convenient for visitors to the area. The oceanfront offers a variety of recreation and events year-round, so those riding may want to stop and enjoy the frequent art shows and drum circle performances that occur. Sundays are the most popular days for these events and if there are no organized happenings, you can always take a break and people-watch along the path. The beach area is lifeguard protected. Along the path are numerous stopping points including the El Torito Mexican Grill and Rusty's Pizza, both offering a full menu of lunch and dinner selections, as well as spectacular views of the ocean. Bikers have access to public restrooms along Cabrillo Path.
