Description: About 20 minutes west of Pittsboro, the Inn at Celebrity Dairy was one of the first B&Bs in Chatham County, having been in operation for more than 20 years. The inn is on the site of a 300-acre dairy goat farm, and guests are welcome to visit the herd or sit on the porch and watch the chickens peck. Breakfast includes farm-made chevre, omelets, and pastries. The inn’s seven cozy rooms are in the modern, Greek revival farmhouse, and one suite is in the refurbished 19th-century log cabin kitchen that adjoins the house. On the third Sunday of the month, innkeepers serve a Sunday dinner featuring local produce, meat, and cheese, followed by a tour of the barn and cheese room. The inn can accommodate guests in wheelchairs.

Description: Chatham Hospital has served central Chatham County for seven decades. Since 2008, it has been part of UNC Health Care, the state-owned non-profit health care system affiliated with the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. UNC has since opened a new 25-bed hospital 15 miles west of Pittsboro Hospital in Siler City. The hospital has a 24-hour emergency room and offers services including cardiac rehabilitation, diabetes education, physical therapy, surgery, and a sleep lab. A critical care unit, a medical-surgical floor, and a day-surgery department are on site. More than 70 doctors serve Chatham Hospital, and the staff is strongest in emergency and family medicine and radiology. The facility’s radiological capabilities include mammography, ultrasound, and bone densitometry. A 31,000-square-foot expansion to dedicate more room to specialists, physical therapy, and diabetes treatment is underway.
