Description: Not the most exciting name, but The Wine Shop is the top choice for Charlotte wine aficionados. The Foxcroft location came first, then the Rivergate shop was added to serve the growing region around Lake Wylie in southwest Charlotte. Both have impressive selections of wines by the bottle and glass. The Rivergate location has more of a bar atmosphere, and also has a tasting room that can be rented for private parties. A nice touch: Both Web sites feature blogs on which the owners disperse their expertise on all things vino.
