Description: Immerse yourself in 19th-century Victorian luxury. Keating House, a beautifully restored 1888 home (and a San Diego Historical Site), sits proudly in a residential neighborhood full of elegant homes. The splendor of the Victorian era is re-created in each of the nine rooms. Because of its faithful restoration, the inn does not have any wheelchair-accessible rooms. A full gourmet breakfast is served every morning in the dining room, and a cozy parlor offers the perfect setting for conversation or the opportunity to curl up in front of the fireplace with a favorite book. Lush tropical grounds surround the house, and several seating areas in the garden and on the front porch allow visitors to drink in the sweet aroma of roses and jasmine and the vibrant colors of bougainvillea, orchids, and jacaranda. Smoking is allowed in the gardens, but not in the house. Close to downtown, Hillcrest, and Balboa Park, Keating House is ideally located for the visitor seeking quiet rejuvenation combined with lots of activities. Children are welcome as long as they are well behaved. This is not the place for energetic toddlers, but teens might enjoy the feeling of home.
