Tilden Regional Park

Berkley, California has three district parks. Tilden Regional Park is the oldest of the three offering recreational activities for all generations. There is a carousel ride, picnic section, and swimming in Lake Anza. It is also possible to stroll around the botanic gardens. The park is comprised of 2,079 acres. It is a preserve for nature and wildlife.

The park was named after Charles Lee Tilden who was the first Park District Board of Directors. To reach the park one can come on Canon Drive, Shasta Road or South Park Drive, which are all off Grizzly Peak Boulevard. Also as part of the park are the Steam Train, Brazil Building, Merry Go Round, and Little Farm. The steam train is still operational offering visitors a ride through the park. The Brazil Building is a historical structure for weddings, events, and parties. There are 150 seats available or room for 225 standing guests. A commercial kitchen and large main room comprise the event center, with a flagstone patio. The Merry Go Round goes hand in hand with the Carousel with wooden construction and hand carved animals to ride. Fishing and camping are also an option when at Tilden Regional Park.
