1. The Original Singing Cowboys

Telephone: (605) 673-4761, (888) HAVE-FUN
Address: 1 Village Ave.

Description: You might call this group the South Dakota version of the Sons of the Pioneers. And indeed, one of the members of this traditional western-style band, Jim Lovell, won the Old West Trail Foundation Award for the Preservation of Western Music in 1980, an honor also bestowed on the aforementioned Sons. Lovell and fellow Cowboys Buddy Meredith, Kenny Hamm, and Bill King sing enduring songs about enduring values, and their arrangements are so true, you just might get the urge to stretch out in a bedroll under the stars. That’s especially so if you’ve had a filling meal from the buffet table on the main floor at Heritage Village before heading downstairs for the show in the Show Barn Theater. Performances are at 8 p.m. Tues through Sun from early May through Labor Day, and on weekends until mid-Oct. The buffet starts at 4:30 p.m. Group reservations are recommended.
