Description: This magazine provides a wealth of information about our South Dakota heritage. The nonprofit Hall of Fame began in 1974 to recognize those “who have contributed to the development and heritage of South Dakota.” Since then, hundreds of noteworthy people, living and deceased, have become hall of famers commemorated in this quarterly magazine. The magazine is published once a year. Fifteen people are inducted each year, in 15 categories, including agriculture, Indian heritage, religion, professional cowboy, and “unsung heroes and good hearts.” The Hall of Fame sells books and displays a photo collection, and its magazine files are open to the public. The historically valuable archives are computerized, and a database is available for public use. You won’t find this magazine on newsstands, but it’s available at most South Dakota libraries. Both subscriptions and single copies are available at the number above.
