1. Eichenkranz

City: Highlandtown, MD
Category: Restaurants
Telephone: (410) 563-7577
Address: 611 South Fagley St.

Description: Eichenkranz has been offering true German food since it opened in 1894, and while ownership has changed a few times, with the latest owners taking over in 1992, the food has remained constant. Located off Fleet Street in Fell’s Point, the restaurant offers four types of schnitzel—Wiener schnitzel, Jager schnitzel, schnitzel Holstein, and the Eichenkranz schnitzel, which features veal, shredded ham, and Swiss cheese. The casual atmosphere, which tends to draw lots of couples, is enhanced by a number of pictures of Germany retained from one of its original owners. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner every day. Reservations are recommended, even if you call on the day you wish to dine out, and parking is free on a lot at the restaurant. There’s a full bar, too. Check for Oktoberfest activities.
