Address: 1240 Duhig Road

Description: This imposing winery was inspired by the Louis XV–style Château de la Marquetterie in Champagne, country estate of the Taittinger family, which founded Domaine Carneros in 1987. The atmosphere is très français, with a looming portrait of Madame de Pompadour in the main lobby. You can enjoy your beverage (with complimentary hors d’oeuvres) in the salon or on the patio, which is swept by breezes off San Pablo Bay. Domaine Carneros offers three types of sparkling wine (Brut Cuvée, Blanc de Blancs, and Brut Rosé) and its Famous Gate Pinot Noir. Tours are three times daily: 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m., at $25 per person.

2. Artesa Winery

City: Carneros, CA
Category: Nightlife
Telephone: (707) 224-1668
Address: 1345 Henry Road

Description: Dug into the top of a hill, with native grasses planted over its sloping walls, this winery looks like a half-unearthed Mayan ruin—until you get inside, where the breezy central atrium and reflecting pools are nothing but modern elegance. Artesa is owned by Codorniu, one of the world’s biggest producers of champagne, or cava. The Raventos family has been making wine since the 16th century (a Codorniu married a Raventos in 1659) and making méthode champenoise sparkling wine since 1872. In addition to some bubbly, the Napa outpost now bottles primarily still wines, including Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Pinot Noir.
