The di Rosa Preserve: Art and Nature

The di Rosa Preserve: Art and Nature attraction in Napa, Napa Valley, California was originally purchased by Rene di Rosa in 1960. The vineyards on the land date to 1855. The buildings and land fell to disuse before di Rosa bought them, especially because of the 1920s Prohibition Era. There was a stone winery built in 1886 used for making moonshine, growing mushrooms, and storing hay and grain.

When di Rosa bought the property it was turned into a home and dairy farm. In 1963 Winery Lake Vineyards label was established. The vineyard covered 250 acres eventually and the fruit from it has been sought by 50 area wineries. Seagrem purchased the vineyards in 1986, leaving the house to become an art and nature location.

The Gatehouse Gallery is open Wednesday through Friday from 9:30am to 3pm. This gallery has art from the di Rosa collection and rotating exhibits. The permanent collection and grounds can be toured on request. Tours of di Rosa are offered at 10am, 11am, 12pm, and 1pm Wednesday through Friday. Reservations are recommended for the tours. Saturday tours are 10am, 11am, and 12pm. Tours on Saturday are required.
