Shadow Cliffs Regional Recreation Area


Shadow Cliffs Regional Recreation Area is located in Pleasanton, California. The cliffs were formerly a quarry and were donated to the Park District which obtained a grant to develop the park. The Park District then developed a 266 acre park which includes an 80-acre lake and many other activities.

There is the one main 80-acre lake along with several smaller lakes and ponds. Swimming and boating is not allowed in the small lakes, this area is quiet and is a peaceful place for families to enjoy some time together.

The fun activities at the park include the Rapids Waterslide, swimming is available at the beach which has a bathhouse and refreshment stand. Visitors who are disabled can use the beach wheelchairs which are complimentary and allow disabled visitors to enjoy the beach.

Visitors can also enjoy fishing for trout and catfish which are planted weekly along bluegill and black bass. There is annual fishing derbies held at the lake. Boats that are 20 feet with electric motors are also allowed on the lake. There are many picnic areas available which are also available for reservation.

When visiting Shadow Cliffs Regional Recreation Area visitors are advised that alcohol is not permitted at the cliffs, and to leave their area clean when they are finished at the park and if visitors do not have their own vehicle public transport to the cliffs is available daily.
