Partington Point

There is a small trail down to the beach, but steep. The trail goes down to the Partington's exit to the Pacific Ocean then tracks up the creek to a bridge. Over the bridge you come upon a 100 foot tunnel to Partington Cove. Partington Cove is favorite location with locals and tourists because of its beautiful surroundings. Many people compare it to Fantasy Island.

The picturesque cove is home to many wildlife including sea otters and seals, clear waters and a kelp forest. On the point is an old hoist stanchion, used for loading cargo, lumber and tanning bark.

Partington Creek rushes down through the canyon at a fast pace, then goes under Hwy One through a man made tunnel. The second Partington hike begins on the east side of the road. Bring a flashlight and canteen as there is a lack of fresh water. For the first third of the trail there is fresh water, but none the remainder of the way.

At first the trail is somewhat confusing. If you start out going to the left of the creek, you will end up in the redwoods, and come upon a picnic spot - a boulder hanging over a wide sparkling pool, with a waterfall in a cathedral of Sequoia Sempervirens. This particular trail ends in a dead end at the cliffs.
