Nicholas Canyon Beach

The Nicholas Canyon County Beach is located in Malibu and offers a wide range of recreation and activities. The beach is called Zeros by surfing residents of the area. It is a popular destination for surfing enthusiasts, but is also frequented by SCUBA divers, and families who are looking for a clean, safe beach for picnics, sunbathing, and swimming. There is plenty of nearby parking and usually costs about $2-6 per car. There are showers and restroom facilities on the beach that allow visitors to stick around for a few hours and get cleaned up before getting in the car and heading home. Guests access the beach from the stairs by the lifeguard tower and the best surfing options are near the tower. SCUBA divers visit the area on the regular basis, but access can be tough to walk from the parking lot ramp to the water. From the beach divers must swim about 200 yards to the reef which is filled with rocks and kelp, as well as lobster and marine animals. Divers who want to get into their suits and get their equipment on closer to the water can use the picnic tables scattered on the beach. The beach is open from sunrise to sunset and the parking lot is closed from 1 AM until 6 AM. There are no close restaurants or snack bars, so if you plan to stay for awhile, pack your own food.
