Museum of Latin American Art

MOLAA or Museum of Latin American Art was started in 1996. Since its beginnings, the museum has gained a 15,000 square foot expansion. Located in Long Beach, California the museum offers residents and visitors plenty of chances to learn about contemporary and modern art from Latin America. The museum's missions are to education, collect, preserve, present, and interpret art for cross cultural dialogue. The permanent exhibit has grown and expanded, as well as the sculpture garden with the recent expansion. A number of works are by Tamayo, Matta, Cruz- Diez, Los Carpinteros and Tunga.

The original building for the museum was once the Balboa Amusement Producing Company's. Over the years it housed many places from 1913, until it became the museum. With thorough renovation the owners were able to open it to the public. Museum hours are Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday 11am to 5pm, and Thursday 11am to 9pm. The museum is closed on major holidays and Monday/ Tuesday.

Admission costs are $9 for general, $6 for seniors and students. Children under 12 are free to enter. The museum offers a summer art camp for children and adults who would like to improve their talents.
