McCallum Adobe

The McCallum Adobe is located in the Coachella Valley, recently popular due to the annual music festival held in town. The adobe is associated with the McCallum Theatre. It began as a small home built from clay soil like a true adobe. The home was built in 1885 and was the first pioneer home in Palm Springs. The Palm Springs Historical Society is now located in the adobe and features artifacts, photos, and a variety of Palm Springs memorabilia. Some of the objects on display were from the personal collection of Pearl McCallum McManus. The adobe is located in the heart of Palm Springs, surrounded by the best the city has to offer. It is filled with galleries, shops, restaurants, and a variety of special events on any given day of the week or weekend. Those visiting Palm Springs can enjoy a day of shopping, lunch in one of several cafes, a trip to the adobe for a look back at the pioneer days of the town, and then dinner in an upscale eatery featuring gourmet entrees. There are a number of lodging options including bed and breakfasts, inns, hotels, motels, and guesthouses. Palm Springs is a great weekend getaway or an educational destination for those who want to learn more about the McCallum Adobe and history of the city.
