Folsom Historical Museum

The Folsom Historical Museum is run by the Folsom Historical Society of California. The museum is found in downtown Folsom where visitors can learn the history of the town, as well as other parts of California. Artifacts and treasures help to depict the settlements and development of the area. Many of the displays have to deal with the gold rush, how Folsom was founded by gold, and how it has survived.

The historical society aims to protect and preserve history through the collection, preservation, and documentation of records. The society was founded in 1960 and the museum soon followed. Some of the displays deal with artifacts of Native tribes of the area. Before mining camps, prisons, railways, and the powerhouse, Native Americans lived on the land.

The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday 11am to 4pm. Admission is $4 for adults, $2 for teenagers, and children under 12 are free. Parking is available at the museum, just across the street. The museum, itself, is located at 823 Sutter Street. Access by light rail and bike trail is also possible. The exhibits at Folsom Museum are permanent, though there can be some temporary shows now and again.
