Fern Falls

Fern Falls is below a footbridge in Los Padres National Forest, Santa Barbara, California. The falls are not as tall as some of the other waterfalls visitors may see in the park and California. The water falls roughly sixty feet, with an upper falls of perhaps six feet. Fern Falls are surrounded by native trees and bushes to the forest, along with some large boulders that have been cut out by the waterfall and river.

To hike to Fern Falls visitors can take the trail to Inspiration Point or Jesusita Trail. Both Jesusita and Tunnel Trail lead to Inspiration Point on an uphill but shore trek. Mountain Bikers tend to use the Jesusita Trail. The trail begins near an access road for the Edison Company. The road is about a mile long to the trail head, which can be walked. The trail will climb up to a small summit to a dirt road. From here there is a view of the California Channel Islands. The hike round trip is 3.5 miles with a small elevation gain of 800 feet. Along the way as one hikes up farther into the mountains Fern Falls will come into view.
